HOUR 1: Introductions and challenges: Facilitator will introduce the day and self. Depending on the number of attendees, everyone will introduce themselves to the full room or to their table mates. SWOT results shared at tables, looking for common themes. Themes summarized and shared around the room.

HOUR 2: Managing your team: Short lecture on 21st century workforce issues: aging workforce, hiring millennials, remote working, offshore partnerships, changing tools and technologies. Table group discussions to share brainstorm solutions for workforce issues. Table discussions shared with the room.

HOUR 3: Managing your boss and navigating your company: Short lecture on what matters to business managers and how to conquer the often non-strategic role of the Tech Comms manager. Metrics and Business Case Building. Room will break into groups – those most needing to make business cases and those most needing to develop metrics. Groups will brainstorm on types of metrics that may be meaningful to their organizations and how to gather them, or what might make a compelling business case for a needed change in their organization.

HOUR 4: Making changes: A short lecture on change leadership. Then attendees will spend time looking at what they have learned today: the challenges the face, the workforce issues they face, the business issues they need to solve and pick three things to focus on for the coming year: one departmental issue they would like to solve (and how they might solve it), one issue they would like to raise to management for funding or change (and some ideas on how they might make the case for that), and one change they would like to make to assist their team.
